On Wednesday, July 11, the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) released a notice in the Federal Register outlining the process for companies or trade associations to apply for individual product exclusions from the recently imposed section 301 tariffs on goods imported from China. The open comment period will last through October 9 and will require that interested parties submit exclusion requests containing a variety of supportive data. These submissions should include quantity and value data of all the imported products for the past three years and evidence that the products cannot be manufactured or imported from any other country. HCPA will continue to help members work through the tariff process and is eager to know if any companies have filed, or plan to file, an exclusion request with the USTR.
