HCPA Applauds Reauthorization of Pesticide Registration Improvement Act (PRIA)

Major Pesticide Law Signed by President, HCPA Thanks Bipartisan Group of Congressional Leaders
The Household & Commercial Products Association (HCPA) applauds the reauthorization of the Pesticide Registration Improvement Act (PRIA) and thanks the bipartisan group of Congressional leaders who played an integral role in helping to shepherd and unanimously pass the reauthorization, which was signed into law by President Trump on March 8, 2019.
“On behalf of the household and commercial products industry, HCPA is very grateful to Congress and the Administration for ensuring that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will continue to receive proper funding for this cost-effective, sustainable and historically efficient program,” said HCPA President and CEO Steve Caldeira.
“As the voice of the household and commercial products industry, HCPA worked collaboratively with policymakers on both sides of the political aisle, in both chambers, as well as with highly-respected NGOs and allied trade associations, to find a pathway to reauthorize this critically important law,” said Caldeira. “HCPA would like to thank Senators Pat Roberts (R-Kan.), Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) and Tom Udall (D-N.M.) for their sponsorship of PRIA reauthorization in the U.S. Senate, as well as House Agriculture Committee Chairman, Collin Peterson (D-Minn.), Ranking Member Mike Conaway (R-Texas), and House and Senate leadership for their steadfast support on PRIA reauthorization.”
“The innovative products supported by PRIA are the first line of defense against the spread of bacteria, the flu virus and insect-borne illnesses such as West Nile, Zika and Lyme disease,” said Caldeira. “The industry fees enabled by PRIA will continue to ensure that these critically important products are independently-reviewed by the EPA and made available to the public as quickly as possible.”
