Maryland delegate Benjamin Kramer has introduced a bill titled, “Consumer Protection – Cleaning Product Right-to-Know Act.” This bill, HB-1080, shares many similarities with California SB-258, “The Cleaning Product Right-to-Know Act of 2017,” and could affect how HCPA members formulate their products and protect their confidential business information (CBI). The Maryland bill differs from SB-258 in that it doesn’t exempt FIFRA products, has unique hazard lists, and establishes an accelerated compliance date compared to Prop 65. HCPA is closely monitoring this bill and will provide our members with necessary updates on the progression of Maryland HB-1080.
