On Monday, April 9, the Missouri Senate Agriculture committee took testimony on SB 1093, which would triple pesticide registration fees in the state, and allow the state to spend those funds on a wide range of new programs. HCPA, along with allied trade associations, testified in opposition to the measure. During the committee, senators expressed that they appreciated that the registration agency is underfunded but noted that they would like more information on what the exact needs of the department are, and what is a proper way to fund those programs. HCPA expects new legislation to be introduced before the end of session to authorize the state to study those needs.
