Automotive Specialty Products Alliance – Minneapolis, MN

On June 6 through 7, Pete Vujovich, Director, State Government Relations & Public Policy, HCPA, led the Automotive Specialty Products Alliance (ASPA) Spring Meeting in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The meeting brought consumer product companies together with representatives from the automotive and automotive aftermarket industries to discuss shared regulatory challenges and the state of the automotive and consumer products economies. Antimicrobial Workshop – Arlington, VA

On June 7 and 8, the Household & Commercial Products Association (HCPA), the Center for Biocides Chemistries (CBC) and the International Sanitary Supply Association (ISSA) jointly held the 12th Antimicrobial Workshop in Crystal City, a neighborhood in Arlington, Virginia. The two-day event, which is held every three years, attracted roughly 150 conference attendees who heard directly from EPA officials and industry representative alike on a variety of antimicrobial-related topics, including Reregistration and Registration Review, the Antimicrobial Testing Program and new FDA regulations for antibacterial washes and rubs. Day two highlights included an update on European Union biocidal products, Chinese disinfection product regulations and state regulatory issues. Special thanks to EPA and the industry speakers for making this workshop a great success.

Council of Chemical Association Executives Quarterly Meeting – Washington, DC

On June 13, Owen Caine, Executive Vice President, Government Relations & Public Policy, HCPA, pinch-hit for HCPA CEO, Steve Caldeira, and attended the quarterly meeting of the Council of Chemical Association Executives at the offices of the American Cleaning Institute. This meeting brings together CEOs and government relations executives from all the major chemical trade associations to discuss priority issues confronting the broad chemical industry. Topics under discussion included ingredient disclosure, PRIA reauthorization, EPA’s Safer Choice Program and retail engagement. Attendees included, Melissa Hockstad, President & CEO, American Cleaning Institute; Cal Dooley, President & CEO, American Chemistry Council; Tom Dobbins, President, American Composites Manufacturers Association; Chris Jahn, President & CEO, The Fertilizer Institute; and others.

How to Improve Operational and Membership Performance Seminar – Washington, DC

On June 13, John Fawkes, Director, Membership, HCPA, attended a seminar put on by Advanced Solutions International (ASI) in conjunction with the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) at the ASAE Conference Center. The seminar reviewed best practices and ideas related to association efficiency and member retention. During the event executives discussed some of the challenges facing associations today and what steps are needed to improve performance.
