HCPA, in conjunction with Crowell and Moring and TSG, held the 2018 Pesticide Regulation Workshop on October 9 and 10. The workshop expanded and enhanced participants knowledge with a variety of technical sessions on the requirements to develop, register and ensure the continued commercialization of pesticide products. Presenters Jim Jones, Executive Vice President, Strategic Alliances & Industry Relations, and Steve Bennett, Senior Vice President, Scientific Affairs, provided an overview of the interplay of ingredient communication and retailer expectations with FIFRA products while Michael Goodis, Director of the Registration Division of EPA, spoke about the recent developments in the Registration Division of EPA’s Office of Pesticide Programs. Diana Saenz of EPA’s Office of Civil Enforcement tied in the session overview by detailing recent enforcement trends under FIFRA.

Earlier this month, HCPA also hosted a New York-specific registration workshop in Albany. The program focused on common challenges the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation sees in registering products. HCPA will continue to host registration workshops in states where members face additional hurdles in getting products registered. The next workshop will be in California in 2020.
