Legislators in Sacramento halted legislation which would ban consumer rodenticides across the state. The legislation was raised in an effort to support populations of predatory animals and birds. While the author of the legislation was open to amendments to give more control of any restrictions to the California Department of Pesticide Regulation, the chairman of the Assembly Committee on Waters, Parks and Wildlife pulled the bill from consideration, meaning the bill will not meet the legislature’s fiscal deadline and will not advance this year. HCPA will continue to advocate against this legislation to ensure it is not considered during the budget process.
