Antimicrobial Division meets with EPA Officials on Antimicrobial Testing Program
April 20, 2018
Last month, members of the HCPA Antimicrobial Division hosted EPA’s Acting Antimicrobial Deputy Director Anita Pease, Division Director Wynne Miller and members of their staff to a working meeting on EPA’s Antimicrobial Testing Program (ATP) and provided four potential concepts aimed at improving the program. The models included a revision of the traditional testing model as well as other unique concepts in order to provide a risk-based strategy to assure effectiveness of hospital sterilants, tuberculocides and disinfectants. After receiving initial feedback from the Agency, Antimicrobial Division members will be planning a follow-up meeting following the IMPACT2018 Mid-Year Meeting and assist EPA as they consider changes to this program.
