Event Info

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced the 2024 submission period for quadrennial reporting under the Toxic Substances Control Act’s (TSCA) Chemical Data Reporting (CDR) Rule. The 2024 submission period will be June 1 to September 30, 2024. Reporting will cover non-exempt, Inventory-listed substances imported or manufactured for non-exempt commercial purposes, by sites and above applicable threshold quantities, during the 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 calendar years.

Many companies met their reporting obligations under the CDR Rule in 2020, but it has been almost four years since then. Given the stated importance of the CDR Rule reporting to EPA, it is important that companies who are required to report in 2024 do so, on time, accurately, and completely.

EPA is not planning to update the CDR Rule for the 2024 submission period, because there are minimal changes to reporting requirements from 2020. One important non-regulatory change for 2024 is a requirement to use OECD function and use codes in the reports submitted to EPA.

Reporting for the CDR Rule often involves compiling, organizing, and analyzing significant amounts of information, and companies who will need to report in 2024 will need to give themselves sufficient time to prepare.

HCPA will host a two-hour webinar on February 8, 2024 to review the requirements for reporting under the CDR Rule in 2024. The webinar will discuss common pitfalls and provide useful tips and recommendations.
