Owen Caine, executive vice president, government relations and public policy, attended the American Chemistry Council (ACC) “State Affairs and Political Mobilization Annual Planning Meeting” from November 13 through 15, on Amelia Island, Florida. The meeting covered topics ranging from the unique political landscape in 2017, to ingredient disclosure, and regulatory and technical affairs. ACC staff, member companies, several speakers and a handful of state chemical associations also attended.
On Tuesday morning, Caine and Doug Troutman, general counsel, corporate secretary, and vice president, government affairs, American Cleaning Institute (ACI), gave a joint presentation on the challenges of ingredient disclosure in the context of New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) proposal and the California Cleaning Product Right to Know Act of 2017. Caine and Troutman went on to outline what they envision to be the greatest threats in the upcoming year. “Collaborating with allied trade associations and companies fosters stronger working relationships and allows us as a group to make a greater impact on the issues that matter to CSPA,” Caine said of the value of the meeting.Input caption text here.
