Allyson Azar, Manager, State Government Relations & Public Policy for the West Region, discussed pesticide registration delays for 25(b) products and label renewals for Design for the Environment (DfE) eligible products with representatives from the South Dakota Department of Agriculture (SDDA).

During the phone call, the SDDA explained that they are currently working through the backlog of product registrations after making staff changes. In the last few weeks, the Household & Commercial Products Association (HCPA) has noticed the SDDA making strides toward processing registrations in a timely manner.

Additionally, HCPA urged the SDDA to accept label renewals for DfE eligible products. Some HCPA members have reported that the state will not accept product label renewals that contain the DfE logo, while other members who have been granted approval in the past are concerned that their product renewals will not be accepted this year. The SDDA explained that they will accept product label renewals with the DfE logo if the logo is on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Master Approved Label List.
