Washington, D.C. — The Household & Commercial Products Association (HCPA) announced today that Mike Gruber will serve as Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective July 13, following the previously announced departure of Steve Caldeira. HCPA extends its sincere appreciation to Caldeira for his leadership and dedicated service during his nearly 10-year tenure as CEO.
Gruber currently serves as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of HCPA, a role he assumed following his promotion in April 2026. He oversees the Association’s day-to-day operations and helps lead strategic initiatives across HCPA’s advocacy, regulatory, and member services portfolios.

His deep understanding of our members’ priorities, the regulatory landscape, and the Association’s operations makes him exceptionally well-suited to lead HCPA during this transition,” said Lisa Pankiewicz, Chair of the Board of Directors and Vice President, Strategic Regulatory & External Affairs, The Clorox Company. “Mike has demonstrated a strong track record of advancing key industry initiatives, including reform of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), Pesticide Registration Improvement Act (PRIA) implementation, and support for the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Safer Choice program. The Board has full confidence in Mike’s ability to ensure continuity, stability, and strong leadership for the organization.”

Gruber joined HCPA in 2022 as Senior Vice President of Government Relations & Public Policy and was later promoted to Executive Vice President. In those roles, he helped lead HCPA’s advocacy efforts, leveraging more than three decades of bipartisan experience to advance public policy priorities on behalf of the industry. Gruber holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Washington State University and brings extensive leadership experience in both association management, public policy, and stakeholder engagement. He lives in Washington, D.C. with his family.
