Priority Issues
Pesticide Registration and Improvement Act (PRIA)
Supported the advocacy efforts of a HCPA-led coalition to develop and implement updates to the Pesticide Registration and Improvement Act.
Enhancing Regulatory Transparency and Predictability
HCPA advocates for clear, science-based regulatory decision-making to prevent unnecessary delays and uncertainty in product approvals. We work closely with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) at the federal level and state agencies to ensure that review and pesticide registration processes are efficient, transparent, and predictable—allowing manufacturers to bring reliable, effective products to market while upholding public health and environmental protection standards.
Working with EPA’s Office of Pesticide Programs Registration Division
HCPA works to reduce the number of inconsistent regulatory decisions on pesticide applications, requests for amendments, and other regulatory actions. This includes working with EPA staff and conducting industry-led Lunch & Learn sessions to educate EPA staff and other stakeholders on various pesticide registration-related activities. HCPA staff and members actively provide direct feedback to EPA via the Pesticide Program Dialogue Committee (PPDC) and state-level advisory committees.
Working with State Agencies on Pesticide Issues
HCPA staff maintain an open dialogue with state lead agencies to stay abreast of potential member issues. HCPA staff and industry leaders collaborate with state lead agencies to advance minimum risk pesticides through the AAPCO (American Association of Pest Control Officials) 25(b) Work Group.
