To address issues raised by the Household & Commercial Products Association’s (HCPA) Antimicrobial Division, mandatory implementation of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) 810 Guidelines related to antimicrobial efficacy testing have been delayed for six months to August 28. The guidelines had previously been scheduled for mandatory implementation on March 1. While mandatory implementation has been delayed, companies may still voluntarily follow the guidelines. HCPA had submitted sections of the 810 Guidelines to the EPA for which mandatory implementation should be delayed.

HCPA will continue to work with the EPA regarding these specific sections around confirmatory data and repeat testing to reach a resolution by the end of the six-month period.
