The Department of Transportation (DOT) Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) has contracted Cambridge Systematics to conduct a risk assessment for the transportation of aerosol products relating to potential harmonization of international and domestic regulations for aerosols.

To assist with this project, the Household & Commercial Products Association (HCPA) coordinated an aerosol manufacturing facility tour at CRC Industries, Inc. with the members of the risk assessment project team on March 14.

Jim Jones, Executive Vice President, Strategic Alliances & Industry Relations; Nicholas Georges, Senior Director, Scientific & International Affairs; and Tori Devine, Project Manager, attended on behalf of HCPA and Ignite Solutions.

The group shared with Cambridge Systematics why aligning the U.S. aerosol definition with international regulations would benefit the not just the aerosol industry, but product manufacturers and consumers as well. HCPA and industry stakeholders will continue to work with Cambridge Systematics as they conduct the risk assessment.

Please contact Nicholas Georges, Senior Director, Scientific & International Affairs, at ngeorges@thehcpa.org for additional comments or questions.
