On September 25, HCPA and several members met with EPA to educate senior Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention (OCSPP) staff on the supply disruption of the preservative BIT. HCPA noted the continuing work by Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP) and Safer Choice staff to address the various issues associated with the supply chain disruption with the hope that the background information would be helpful should HCPA member involvement become necessary to resolve any issues in the future.

Separately, EPA has updated the Safer Chemical Ingredients List (SCIL), noting the addition of the preservative OIT, or 3(2H)-Isothiazolone, 2-octyl-, CAS number 26530-20-1, which may assist some formulators. The SCIL is available here.
