HCPA Supports LGBT Nondiscrimination Protections, Equality Act Passes House

On May 15, Household & Commercial Products Association (HCPA) President & CEO Steve Caldeira sent aletter to U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) expressing support for H.R. 5, the Equality Act, which expands Title VII of the Civil Rights Act to provide employment nondiscrimination protections based on sexual orientation and gender identity. HCPA also joined dozens of other trade associations on an additional letter to House leadership in support of the bill. The bill passed the House on Friday by a vote of 236-173, and now moves to the Senate for consideration.
