The Household & Commercial Products Association (HCPA) submitted a letter to Dr. Kim Vanneman, Commissioner of the South Dakota Department of Agriculture (SDDA), requesting a meeting to discuss the extensive delays HCPA members are facing when registering 25(b) products. The SDDA has yet to resolve this issue despite HCPA’s ongoing efforts to respectfully voice our members’ concerns regarding the delay. Delays in registrations for pesticide products could result in a public health risk for South Dakotans and prevent HCPA members’ products from being sold in the state.

Additionally, HCPA urged the SDDA to accept label renewals for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Design for the Environment (DfE) qualified products. Some HCPA members have reported that the state will not accept product label renewals that contain the DfE logo, while other members that have been granted approval in the past have concerns that their product renewals will not be accepted this year. HCPA calls on the SDDA to address this inconsistency and allow for label renewals of DfE eligible products.
