On March 28, HCPA submitted a letter to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) supporting the proposed Tentative Interim Amendment (TIA) No. 1359, revising Chapter 6 and 7 of the 2019 Edition of NFPA 30B, Code for the Manufacture and Storage of Aerosol Products.  This amendment to the NFPA 30B is to define and provide the proper fire protection criteria for Plastic Aerosol 3 Products.  In the event of a fire, the NFPA 30B describes what type of fire suppression system a building must have installed to handle the type of aerosols they contain.

Since the 1980s, HCPA has helped develop and maintain NFPA and international fire and building codes that allow aerosols to be manufactured, stored in warehouses, and placed on store shelves. HCPA has always used sound science to assure that its positions are credible and compelling to the fire officials, insurers, and fire engineering professionals who manage the nation’s complex system of fire and building codes.  HCPA will continue its work so that plastic aerosols that fit under the Plastic Aerosol 3 definition will be available to consumers in the not too distant future.
