On January 15, the Household & Commercial Products Association (HCPA) submitted a matrix document to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that outlined HCPA’s recommended approach for implementation of the 810 Guidelines related to antimicrobial efficacy testing. For each of the sections in the guidelines, HCPA recommended one of three approaches: implement by March 2019 (the current implementation date); delay mandatory implementation; or editorial/minor modification. HCPA recommended delaying mandatory implementation on the sections related to confirmatory efficacy testing, repeating testing and water hardness. HCPA then followed up the matrix submission with a Frequently Asked Questions document that will provide suggestions for resolving issues that HCPA identified for specific sections of the guidelines.
