Representatives from Walmart, Target, CVS Health Kroger and other major retailers joined representatives of major consumer and personal care product manufactures in New Orleans on March 3-5 to participate in the UL WERCSmart Supply Chain Summit 2020.

Joe Yost, Vice President, Strategic Alliances & Industry Relations, represented HCPA in the collaborative discussions about practical ways to improve the organization, analysis and sharing of product ingredient information via the UL WERCSmart platform to better achieve retailers’ and product manufacturers’ mutual goals of ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and advancing product safety and sustainability. Going forward, members of the HCPA Retail Engagement Work Group and our affiliate organization, the Supplier Information Reporting (SIR) Work Group, will continue to engage in collaborative discussions with UL WERCSmart and major retailers. We seek to encourage greater harmonization of retailers’ chemical management and ingredient communication programs to help consumers better understand the ingredients that are used to formulate household, institutional and personal care products.
