On November 1, representatives of HCPA, the American Chemistry Council Center for Biocide Chemistries (ACC CBC), Chemical Producers and Distributors Association (CPDA), Crop Life America (CLA), and RISE met with EPA’s Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP) to continue discussions on addressing the continued BIT disruption and seeking clarification on portions of the recent EPA self-certification letter.

The letter details how registrants can batch all self-certification of BIT-related formulation changes via notification in one letter to EPA. The self-certification will revert to either the originally approved BIT-containing formulations upon resolution of the BIT disruption or up to 24 months from the date of the letter. The EPA and industry leaders will continue to discuss additional BIT alternatives for consideration within the self-certification or other expedited processes. These are productive and ongoing discussions, and EPA remains amenable to practical solutions in working with registrants as they deal with ongoing BIT supply issues.
