The Household & Commercial Products Association (HCPA) has awarded the 2020 Murray Glauberman Memorial Scholarship to McKayla Jenkins. McKayla is a 2020 graduate of Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central High School in Verona, New York, and will be attending Nazareth College in Rochester as a freshman in the fall to study Music Education with additional education certifications in Biology and Historical Studies.

The Glauberman Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a child or grandchild of a full-time employee of an HCPA member company. Named for the late Murray Glauberman, HCPA’s 1986 Chairman of the Board, the scholarship recognizes achievement in the classroom, leadership skills, and a commitment to community service. Since its inception in 1988, HCPA has awarded a total of $256,000 to 32 deserving recipients to pursue their collegiate studies.

“McKayla is a perfect example of a Glauberman Memorial Scholarship recipient,” said Steve Caldeira, President & CEO, HCPA. “In addition to achieving a 4.0 GPA and membership in the National Honor Society, McKayla auditioned and was accepted to All County Band, a band of the best instrumentalists from several New York counties. McKayla’s accomplishments extend beyond the walls of school. She volunteered for a program called Math Buddies, tutoring elementary students in mathematics, and spent a summer as a counselor in training at a local children’s camp, acting as a role model and gaining experience teaching children – both of which will provide an excellent foundation for her goal of becoming a Secondary Music Educator. HCPA is proud to award McKayla the Glauberman Memorial Scholarship. We congratulate her on a successful high school career and wish her all the best at Nazareth College and beyond.”
