CSPA Commends Negotiators on Moving TSCA Bill Forward

The Consumer Specialty Products Association (CSPA) commends the House and Senate for reaching a final bipartisan compromise on modernizing the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). The negotiators announced the support of Minority Leader Pelosi, Minority Whip Hoyer, and Energy and Commerce Ranking Member Pallone earlier today. The House is expected to vote on the bill tomorrow.
“Today’s final agreement appears to be the breakthrough we’ve been working towards for years,” said Chris Cathcart, CSPA President and CEO. “Modernizing TSCA is critical to increasing consumers’ confidence in the safety of the products they buy. Broad, bipartisan support for the new law will ensure consumers know that regulators will now have the mandate, authority, and resources necessary to bring the U.S. chemical safety system into the 21st Century. We congratulate the members and staff who were able to reach a compromise on a technically complex and politically complicated issue, and we look forward to seeing the bill pass with strong bipartisan support in the House and Senate.”
