On July 16, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross wrote a letter to HCPA President & CEO Steve Caldeira in response to HCPA’s letter to President Donald Trump expressing concern about the recently-imposed tariffs on steel and aluminum imports. Secretary Ross’s letter reiterated that President Trump has sought to impose the tariffs for national security reasons and expressed the Department of Commerce’s desire to receive comments from affected parties as well as requests for the exclusion of specific steel and aluminum products. HCPA will continue to advocate against the steel and aluminum tariffs imposed under Section 232, as well as the tariffs on products imported from China under Section 301. To read HCPA’s letter to President Trump, click here.
