On April 13, Owen Caine, Executive Vice President of Government Relations and Public Policy for HCPA and Nicholas Georges, HCPA’s Director of Scientific Affairs, had a conversation with David Brennan, Assistant Director, Cargo Safety & Standards of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), about limitations that IATA had on shipping aerosol products. IATA’s limitations are unnecessarily severe and are more restrictive than the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and Europe’s regulations. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Dangerous Goods Panel will be starting its biennial revision cycle this upcoming October, so Caine and Georges will be working with the Aerosol Products Division to develop arguments for IATA and ICAO to align their regulations closer with the U.S. and Europe.
