HCPA staff is actively working with members via the Air Quality Committee to review and discuss the California Air Resources Board’s (CARB’s) Preliminary Draft Consumer Product Survey Data. CARB’s Preliminary Draft Consumer Product Survey Data consists of the 2013 and 2014 Consumer & Commercial Product Survey data and supplemental materials. This data provides an overview of the 491 product categories, which over 1,500 household and commercial product manufacturers, formulators, and marketers participated in, providing CARB with product sales and chemical formulation for over 300,000 products sold in California.

It is vital that we work with CARB to ensure that this data is as accurate as possible since it will shape future volatile organic compound (VOC) regulations. Inaccurate data can lead to possible VOC reductions that are not reasonable or feasible, which could lead to companies spending a significant amount of time and resources to research and develop new formulations for their products. If you market or manufacture consumer or commercial products and are interested in getting involved, please do not hesitate to contact HCPA. Feedback to CARB on their preliminary data is due by August 1st.
